For a standard full-size integrated dishwasher you do not need a cabinet at all. An integrated dishwasher slots into a 600mm gap in your run of base units, so you simply leave a 600mm space rather than fitting a base cabinet there. The appliance sits on the floor and is fixed to the neighbouring units, and a decor door is attached to its front so it blends in with the rest of your kitchen.
What you do need
- A 600mm gap in the base run (450mm for a slimline model)
- A decor door to match your kitchen, fixed to the appliance's own bracket
- An end panel if the dishwasher sits at the end of a run and one side is exposed
A note on doors
The decor door is usually a standard base unit door in your chosen finish. Check your appliance's fitting instructions for the exact door size and weight it will accept, as this varies between models. Because there is no cabinet, the worktop above is supported by the units on either side of the gap.
