Fitting a Blind Corner Wall Unit: Example 2

This worked example walks through positioning a blind corner wall unit and setting the clearance so it works alongside the adjoining run. It follows the same principles as our first example, applied to a corner where the return wall is short.

The setup

Two runs of wall units meet at a 90-degree corner. The blind corner unit sits in the angle, with part of it "blind" behind the adjoining run. The neighbouring cabinet will butt up close to the corner unit's door, so clearance is the key.

Step by step

• Mark the corner position and the line of both runs on the wall
• Fit a corner post to set the unit back from the adjoining run
• Hang the corner unit level and secure it to the wall
• Offer up the neighbouring unit but do not fix it yet
• Open both doors fully and check the handles clear each other

Fine-tuning

If the doors or handles catch, increase the setback at the corner post before fixing the rest of the run. Only once both doors clear cleanly should you fix the neighbouring units permanently.
