What height should kitchen base units be?
Kitchens base units are designed so that the top of the worktop is normally 900mm high.
How is this calculated?
Typically the height is made up of the following elements:
- Base cabinets: 720mm high
- Base Cabinet Legs: 150mm high
- Worktop Counter: 30mm thick (although this can vary, depending on the material)
The base cabinet legs are adjustable, so they can compensate for any variation in worktop thickness. While the height is normally 900mm it is down to personal preference, so you can choose to change it to suit your needs. Sometimes people chose to raise the height, particularly if you are tall.
