A kitchen base cabinet is the box, or carcass, of a floor-standing base unit — the rigid structure that sits on the floor and supports your worktop. Strictly speaking the cabinet is the box itself; add doors, hinges and drawers and it becomes a complete, working unit.

Sizes and build

Base cabinets are 720mm high and 570mm deep as standard, with widths ranging from 300mm up to 1000mm. Fitted with adjustable legs and a worktop this delivers the usual ~900mm working height. Each carcass is made from hard-wearing 18mm MFC with an 8mm solid back and is joined using cam-and-dowel fixings for a strong, square box.

Cabinet or complete unit?

If you already have doors you are happy with, you can buy the cabinet on its own to rebuild or extend a run. If you want everything ready to go, choose a complete unit — that includes the cabinet plus doors, hinges and soft-close drawers. Our cabinets are FIRA Gold certified and covered by a 6-year warranty. Handles and worktops are not supplied.

We have a wide selection of kitchen base cabinets available in four different cabinet colours. Each colour range have wall units, base units and full height tall units, such as larder and appliance units. 

All of our units are available as a flat packed units. They are manufactured in the UK using pre-fitted cam and dowel joints, making assembly easy. 

Kitchen Base Unit Specification

Our units are made of 18mm MFC with a 1mm ABS edging on the front. They also have a 8mm solid back. The units are all made in the UK and come with a 6 year warranty. They have also been successfully tested and meet the structural performance requirements of FIRA Gold certification to Heavy Domestic / Contract Kitchen Furniture: FPG S006 - Level H Specification.
